KHK is a professional fraternity that encourages its members to develop in all aspects of collegiate life. Membership is open to all Institute of Technology students. The fraternity-owned house, center of most fraternal activities, is located at 1100 SE 4th Street just West of Dinkytown. The library, test files, and computer lab serve the academic needs of members, just as the party room and social events satisfy the social aspects. KHK owns several well equipped computers complete with high-speed internet, and much of the software needed for classes. One of the greatest benefits of membership is having a number of friends who are studying the same material, or who have previously taken the same classes and are able to help. Rent and membership dues are very reasonable. Considering the facilities and atmosphere that KHK provides, the cost of membership is a bargain.
Through Alumni contributions, KHK has set up a scholarship program and is in the process of setting up a second one. Every year two upper division KHK members are given a scholarship based not only on grades, but on fraternal involvement. With the addition of the second scholarship program two more KHK members will get scholarships each year.
There are many benefits to membership in a fraternity like Kappa Eta Kappa. Some members like studying with other members or using the house's computer lab to make school work a little easier. Other members like the social events and intramural sports that help make life a lot more fun. Holding office in the fraternity can develop the type of organizational and leadership skills required beyond graduation and into the workplace. Joining KHK brings the University down to size; it allows you to meet other IT students and have an active voice in the organization. Moreover, joining a fraternity like KHK brings a sense of identity. If you are looking to get the most out of your time at the University, do yourself a favor and check us out.
